David Hundertmark was born to Marilyn and the late Norval Hundertmark on November 18, 1952. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1971, and in 1974 he attended Reisch Auction School in Mason City, Iowa. He is a registered general auctioneer, and he enjoys selling everything from antiques to real estate. Presently, David resides on a farm seven miles northwest of Rutland, Iowa with his wife Sue (Baade) and three children.

Sue is a 1976 graduate of Rolfe High School Rolfe, Iowa, and currently employed in the lab at Humboldt Sausage located in Humboldt, Iowa. David and Sue have three children; Casey (23), Tracy (19), and Cody (17). Casey is a student at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, Tracy also a student at the U of Iowa, and Cody a junior at Humboldt High. David has two brothers and one sister; Tom, his auction partner; Bruce of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jane of San Francisco, California.

David enjoys being with is family and watching their many athletic events. His hobbies also include being an active member of the Humboldt Athletic Boosters, watching NASCAR races, collecting and restoring pedal tractors, and traveling. He is an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church and Humboldt County Soil and Water Board, as well as being self-employed as a full-time farmer.

As far as a favorite type of sale, David enjoys selling toys. "Selling toys, farm toys, that's a real interesting business. I think I like it so much because I have a genuine interest in it," he explained. However, whether or not the sale is loaded with toys really does not matter, David simply enjoys the business. He said, "The type of sale honestly doesn't make a difference, whether it's real estate or filled with $2.00 collectibles, they are all fun." Working with different people in the public everyday is what David likes the most. "I like dealing with people. Everyone looks at something different," he said. "It amazes me, every situation is different. There is no ho-hum with auctioneering, it's always changing." As far as the staff, David says Hundertmark Auction Service, as a whole is only the best because he works with the best.
